INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
on MARBLE SCULPTURE, Thassos
The 2nd International Symposium on Marble Sculpture
was held during September 2001 in the olive grove of Skala
Kallirahi, which became later a Park of sculpture.
With the production of nine works of international monumentality, the second International Symposium on Marble Sculpture represented an opportunity to organize an original artistic happening.
Nine monumental sculpture works were created by as many artists from several
countries.
Today these works of art still remaining in the place of their original creation, and visitors
can have the chance to discover the Art surrounded by the natural insular scenery and the formation of stone to sculpture which comes from the
earth.
All these works of art, which still remain in the place of their original, represent an insight of the subject stated at the beginning of the second International Marble Symposium, which was
“Dialogue between the stone and the olive” and form
a modern marble park of scultpture in the olive grove of Skala Kalirahis.
The sculptors who participated to the 2nd International Symposium on Marble Sculpture
are :

De Haan, Christine Joine, Takis Kozokos, Christian Leponce, Hector
Papadakis, Eleni Potaga, Ersi Venetsanou
and Kostas Vrouvas.
